Problems include that:
1.) --PVP'ers are to good at what they do.
2.) --Mining can't really ever hope to recap the MANY losses that will be inevitable, let alone make it worth while for a lone miner. Or even a group of miners.
Why should we ask, or want a mining corp of carebears to engage in PVP? Its their money they are giving to CCP, its their time and their game. They think mining for days on end is fun.... well I tip my hat to them cause they have more patients then I do.
That being said I know a few that would go out there (and often) if the just had a real chance in hell. They don't...
A mining ship is like a cow sitting there chewing grass in a field just waiting for the hunter to come rolling in.
possible suggestion...
1.) Maybe give dedicated mining ships the means to conceal themselves while mining to make the pirates do a little more work? It doesn't have to be like cloaked mining or anything, it could be as simple as a "Stealth mod" that makes it so you don't show up on scan when you scan all the belts in orbit around a planet.
2.) Possibly a specialty roid spawn (like an officer spawn) that would make it really worth while to go on an easter egg hunt. I mean something very nice that only appears in low sec/ 0.0 regions.
3.) A chance to protect themselves maybe????? I know this is a far out there idea and all but maybe if, say 5 miners could hope to put a dent in even the smallest PVP ship that comes their way they might have a different view? It doesn't have to be a an all powerful mega weapon that can only fit on a hulk and make the Pirates run or die. It could be a field, a stream, and space mine, anything that a group of miners could wield together that would give them even the smallest chance of taxing another ships tank even a little bit.
Beyond Ideas like these its just forcing people to go out there. They need a reason to change there mind.
